Delta's JFK T4 Expansion (pics from Delta's Youtube video)
If you have been following New York JFK Airport's development, you would know that there have been new terminal buildings constructed at JFK in recent years. There were originally 9 terminals with each major carrier having one terminal. When they opened, each of them were signature cutting edge terminals designed by world famous architects. For example, the TWA terminal and Pan Am Terminal.
The American Airlines Terminal (Terminal 8) was redeveloped and in its place is a brand new terminal with a satellite pier. JetBlue redeveloped the land around the TWA terminal and has the newest terminal - Terminal 5. This terminal is very efficient and is able to process a large number of passengers with its limited floor area. The concessions program in T5 is well integrated and is cutting edge by American airport standards.
The newest addition will be the expansion of Terminal 4 for Delta Airlines. The US$1.2billion project is currently under construction and the first phase is expected to open in 2013. Click here for a virtual tour of Delta's Terminal 4 expansion. Enjoy.
